Philip Romano is an American entrepreneur and restaurateur. He is best known as the founder of popular restaurant chains such as Fuddruckers, Romano's Macaroni Grill, and Eatzi's. He has also been involved in several other restaurant ventures throughout his career.
Born on May 10, 1940, in Buffalo, New York, Romano attended the University of Denver where he earned a degree in business. After graduation, he worked for IBM for several years before deciding to start his own business.
In 1978, Romano opened the first Fuddruckers restaurant in San Antonio, Texas. The restaurant was an instant hit and quickly expanded across the country. He then launched other successful restaurant concepts such as Romano's Macaroni Grill and Eatzi's Market & Bakery.
Romano is also a philanthropist and has been involved in various charitable activities throughout his career. In 1996, he established the Promise House, a nonprofit organization that provides shelter and services to homeless, runaway, and at-risk youth in the Dallas area.
Today, Romano continues to be involved in the restaurant industry and serves as a mentor and investor to young entrepreneurs. He has won numerous awards for his contributions to the industry, including the Golden Chain Award from Nation's Restaurant News.
